Mr Jaf Abu from Gynae Solution has just returned from the 21st European Gynaecological Oncology Congress of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology in Athens, Greece.
The European Gynaecological Oncology Congress is the official International Meeting of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), which is held every two years. The congress offers a unique 4 days educational experience where consultants benefit and learn from over 70 scientific sessions presented by world experts covering the major topics in gynaecological oncology using a variety of session formats.
ESGO provides the opportunity to learn and discuss the latest medical and scientific developments in gynaecological cancers research, treatment and care whilst understanding the latest developments in science and practice in the field of Gynaecological Cancers.
Gynaecological Oncology has substantially changed in recent years. A better understanding of the nature of gynaecological cancers, as well as recent scientific and technological advances, has improved oncological care by incorporating this evidence into the management of gynaecological cancer patients.
Surgical approaches have also been subjected to changes and individualisation, based on both tumour characteristics and patients’ needs. Conservative surgical procedures in selected cases with the intent to preserve fertility have been developed. Radical surgery when indicated has also evolved, representing the cornerstone of the management of gynaecological cancer patients.
Translational research has gained enormous importance in the field. Improved knowledge about tumour biology and the implementation of new biomarkers to assess tumour-specific behaviour and the evaluation of predictive and prognostic factors has led Gynaecological Oncology into new trends of personalised medicine and the selection of patients for individualised treatment.
Participants from all over Europe and around the world to discuss the above-mentioned topics and many more.
It is reassuring to know that Mr Abu has now completed this advanced research congress, he was able to present his own techniques to other consultants within the international community and also learn from others which he would find useful to his patients in Nottingham, thus backing up the reason that he is one of the best in his field.
